it's hot! i've sent several people including myself, emily, and morgan who came to visit all the way from pittsburgh... sent them all to the International Rose Test Gardens !! it's here in portland and they have some 420+ species of rose cultivated in an open english garden. it's free! on these languid days near sunset, the aroma is inebriating; i've always hated parfums, and sometimes would feel like i needed to evacuate my bowels walking down the macy's perfume isle, but OH MY what a perfect and varied smell. many of the roses smell very oddly like they look, others not at all. far-out. i recommend you visit portland!

hooty hoo! so i guess i go to burning man this year, through a series of strategic and accidental circumstances, it almost is like a vacation (except we are going to one of the least hospitable spots on the earth...) SHOULD. BE. FUN.

(sigh) now if i can find some way to leave my stress and worry behind in the desert, maybe it'll even be good for me...

any body else going to the burning man?

aw the week-ends and their events... this saturday, my band victory and the lads played my friend Kollibri's first wedding anniversary. Last year, Kollibri got married to himself (in the middle of one of his urban garden plots, it was a gala event in which i played the part of the father of the bride, drank liberally, and, at a key point in the ceremony, bellowed about how "...i loved her first!"

so, in honor of the whole event, My Wife, as performed by the band:

also, i got naked around the fire, i think for the first time at a party when i was the first/one of the first to take off my clothes; several other people responded in kind... and the fire felt warmed for the lack of clothing! i realize how prudish and protective of whatever it is that one lets show when naked, at least in the past...

hello, my name is Jim, maybe we've met before?

..if we did, i'm sure i didn't wake up early. I moved out the west coast to escape the "beast of the east", and i think i never stopped waking up and going to bed at the same absolute time; so i'm up with the sun and getting tired at midnight (or earlier!) Never thought such things would be, but I guess i'm an adult now...

Ratsaman (a local celeb who lives on his "bike" [he calls it the deathstar]) told me that on the Beast coast, an very long dawn is experienced as sunlight bounces back and forth between the Atlantic and the atmosphere, and a correspondingly short dusk as the sun slips below the continent. Back here on the west, we have the opposite, as the sun rises over the landmass, then a deliciously long twilight, reflecting and refracting off the pacific.

Well, please come visit me and mine at my home and business, TRASH FACTORY we produce all kinds of music and art!

love
jim
